Gardens and green areas in the Arabian Peninsula might be enhanced by preferring local flora, diminishing irrigation breathing space, and with waste-water, along with rain water, an expert team constitute by Unesco Doha Office has recommended.
“Everyone who has or owns a garden, who manages landscaping or farming services, can make a rational donation to save expensive freshwater, and throw in to real biodiversity maintenance.”
The section members Benno Boer, Dawud al-Eisawi, Kamal Batanouny, Gary Brown, and Shaukat Chaudhary have put ahead suggestion based on a shared botanic field familiarity which exceeds 200 years.
“While we judge that gardens and green spaces are highly central for people for a number of apparent reasons, we are disturbed that the available sum of water can be used more prudently,” they observed.
Local plants are modified to local situation and nearly all of them will require less irrigation, less expensive top-soiling, less fertilizer, and less pesticide when compared with exotics.
“However, anywhere we travel, we uncover gardens, and nearly all of them are full of alien plant genus, and devoid of national plants. We deem that one main cause for this phenomenon is the lack of awareness,” the experts said.
It is now time for garden centers to store up on aboriginal plant genus, and make them existing for sale to be functional in Arab garden and areas, they urged.
